ETrade has a great rate for a 6 month CD at 5.18% APY. Click on the link for list of all their CD rates.
It’s very easy to open an account with ETrade online. I actually switched my online savings account from Eloan to Etrade recently.
A minimum of $1000 is required to open a new CD account and they are FDIC insured.

Re: ETrade
ETrade is the worst to deal with. When my big CD was due, I sent a letter requesting to close. When I didn’t hear from them, I called and they said they didn’t get the letter. I sent another letter, a fax and an E/Mail. They said they never got it. The customer service is the worst. I would advise anyone to stay away from them.
